Aside from making the most delicious tikka masala and being skilled at making our kids squeal and giggle, Louai is also an amazing weeder – meticulous and zen and efficient. The greenhouse looks incredible! I hope that our woofers get as much out of their stay at the farm as we get from their presence.
Hosting an enthusiastic and friendly Katimavik team – namely Greg, Mary, Jesse and Tara – has been a great learning experience as well. I think after a week we’re getting the hang of delegating, meal portions and timing. Although I miss eggs, vegan cooking isn’t actually that far from our usual menu. We’ve made many of our usual favourites and there are definitely some new keeper recipes from Vegan Planet.
The farm is positively bubbling with people and so many tasks are being tackled! It is so very encouraging to see fruit trees in the ground, grass cut, lots and lots and lots of tomatoes repotted, wood split and stacked, and especially plants now happily sitting in the tilled-raked-peat enhanced soil and promptly watered and mulched. Thank you, thank you, thank you – we couldn’t have done it all so quickly without you!
