You just wouldn’t believe the excitement around our place when the seed orders come in! Seeds are the beginning, the promise, the expectancy of great things to grow and taste. Our seed orders went out a couple of weeks ago, so we were thrilled to get a card in the mailbox on Friday: a package to pick up at the post office.
Nicolas and I went tearing into the village after work late Friday afternoon, reaching the post office two minutes before closing. It was a great big box from one of our seed suppliers! Woohoo! So you can imagine my disappointment when we got home and I opened the box, only to find it filled with… row cover pins! They’re smashing row cover pins to be sure — bright red with big loops on the end — but not nearly as thrilling as a humble packet of seeds.
