When we decided (after much debate) to ask — no, require — our members to come out to the farm for a work session once during the year, my expectations for what might be accomplished were quite low. We’ll just focus on the fun, walk around the farm, get to know folks, meet the children…
We’ve had five member families visit so far, and it certainly has been fun to get to know people, but I have to say that the work that’s been done is nothing short of A*M*A*Z*I*N*G*! Quick as a wink, soil cubes are made and seeded, still others are transplanted, all by the hundreds. It’s like magic!
Trays and trays of soil cubes and seedlings now fill the greenhouse, and are lined up four deep all along the outside wall as well: summer turnip, swiss chard, onions, cabbages, broccoli, herbs, lettuces, spinach, rapini, mustard greens, and on and on.
Good-natured conversation, great food, and work that gets done, what more could we ask? It’s been a treat, folks! Thank you.
