Half live bird mask – think it’ll ever take off as a fashion trend? This little guy (um, or gal) is one of two who hatched from the second batch. We tried to integrate him with the teenage birds in the summer coop and they were a little hard on him – probably given the age and size difference. It’s easy to see the root of the term pecking order when watching chickens in action. We’ve brought him back inside and we will try again in a few weeks. His sibling was born with a crooked leg and was obviously not thriving – when he died, he was half the size of this one. Aside from the misc garden tasks, fencing is on the horizon since it’s time for the teen chicks to forage and our friend Mel’s goats will be moving to the farm very soon…
