As some of you may have noticed, there was a fairly significant frost last night. We knew it was coming and moved the tomatoes out of the greenhouse just in case. However, since I was happily caught up in some silly play with the kids and our current woofer Louai, I didn’t think of harvesting the asparagus… And of course, they all froze. There are definitely some lessons you learn this way, and after spending 45 minutes chopping off limp and mushy frost damaged asparagus for the compost pile, I’m fairly confident that next time I’ll remember to harvest them (or throw a blanket/row cover/something on them) prior to frost. They would have made such a lovely little asparagus head omlette and soup!
