
Above is a snapshot of part of the field garden with rows of squash plants in the foreground, a few remaining flowers and beautiful swiss chard in the middle, and the hayfield at back that was cut in late August. The turkeys must be in there somewhere!

On the weekend I harvested most of the sunflowers to dry the seeds — the last time Joël ordered organic seeds, they came from China! So even though we won’t get a lot of seeds from our stand of sunflowers, at least they are from home.
